Inspiration

I talked to someone today who totally and completely inspired me. This is the story of a deaf man. I'm not sure if he was born this way or if something happened along the way that caused him to be deaf. I have been blessed enough not only to meet him, but also to be able to work with him in one of the classes I take, along with another wonderful students. I was curious, and asked him what it was that he was going to school for. He told me that he wanted to be a doctor. I'm not sure about you, but I have never had a doctor that is deaf. I immediately became interested and wanted to hear more. He said that he was studying already for the MCATS and had done some job shadowing in a hospital here in the city, etc. The more I heard from him, the more I got inspired! He has had to overcome so many obstacles already, but he's not letting any of that stop him. He is set on accomplishing his dreams. I believe in him as well; and while talking to him, realized what an amazing doctor he is going to be one day. (Note, how I say "is", because he IS going to be amazing!) He's not letting anyone stop him from getting to his dreams. He wants to change things around. I think this is amazing and inspiring!

Just because society might classify you as a minority, or lacking in "something" that everyone in a society thinks you "should have" or be in order to be successful, doesn't mean anything. YOU need to believe in yourself. Be like this wonderful and amazing gentleman. Break barriers, make new rules, inspire people to do wonderful and amazing things! One day, I hope all the world ends up hearing about this man, so others can be inspired to live their dreams! Don't give up! You CAN and WILL do it!
